So uh... Ted didn't have a very good past life. He grew up in a time of civil unrest and injustice and lived in poverty. It was like at every turn, something or someone would screw him over. His personality reflected on this, being a bitter jerk. It's not very widely known what the full details are, but they weren't good. Ted mainly got by through working at nightclubs. He picked up quite a few skills, such a playing multiple instruments (his main one being the banjo), cooking, doing stand-up comedy, and of course, his main passion, poetry. Ted didn't have many healthy coping mechanisms, so poetry became his main outlet for venting his frustrations and trying to make something good out his rotten world. He saw mild local success with his poetry and one-man shows, but... it just wasn't enough. He was still a lonely, depressed man who felt like he had nothing to truly live for. One night, when a nightclub he frequently worked at was failimg, he performed his final show. When the venue was left abandoned, it was like he disappeared with it... Nobody knows where he went... Well... he knew.
Smash-cut to decades later at the abandoned nightclub. There awoken a man who had been reduced to nothing but bone. Wow. How the hell did nobody think to look for him in the dingy nightclub basement? More importantly... how did Ted come back to life? Well... he knows how, but he's very secretive.
Ted felt like he had no choice but to start his life over - no point in staying in a basement for the rest of eternity. Luckily, he still had his banjo and most importantly, his notebook of all the poetry he wrote in his former life (oh and an umbrella he had with him too - that's also been reduced to a skeleton :P). And so, he ventured off and out of the dark. Crazy, man, how long have I been gone, he thought. The world around him was... a lot different than how it was when he died. Everything looked so new. Hmm... a new life. Ted still felt alone and miserable at this point, but... something in his heart told him that he needed to give life a second chance.
Slowly, but surely, Ted tried his best to get everything back together. He got back to what he did best - working around the busy nightlife of his area. Eventually, he left his hometown to see the world outside the small bubble he kept himself him. He travelled around the country, further expanding his horizons and gaining a new appreciation for the world around him. Then... he decided to travel abroad. More chances for new opportunities, new prespectives, and new experiences - and hey, new material for that poetry! One of his destinations? London.
At a bar in the city, he was set to do a poetry reading before the main act of the night, a brother duo called Roseate Tones. Both sides seemed to be impresed with each others' skills... then the older of the Rose brothers, W.B., approached the skeleton to compliment his work. Ted thanked him and complimented W.B.'s voice. The two had a conversation about their passions for the arts and music and whatever else came to their minds. That got W.B. thinking that Ted would be a perfect candidate to help him and his brother create something special together... so he asked if he wanted to be their songwriter. Ted initially had no idea how to respond - was this guy just trying to take advantage of his abilities? That's how things were in the past, after all. No, no, the skeleton thought. These were just some ambituous young artists trying to get by, kinda like him. This could actually be something interesting. Ted, W.B., and Jeff all agreed to with one another and this turned out to be a somewhat successful endeavour! Ted's lyrics worked great with the brothers' music!
During this time, Ted started feeling something that he hadn't felt since his previous life. Back in those days, it was quite forbidden... but there was a man he was falling deeply in love with - it was W.B. Rose. Maybe it was his handsome appearence, maybe it was his flirtatious and romantic charm... but maybe it was also because he loved how sweet and caring he was. W.B. was also attracted to Ted's humble and gentlemanly personality and sense of humor. Not too long later, the two hit it off and became a happy couple.
After some time, Roseate Tones did up officially splitting due to W.B. and Jeff's creative differences. Jeff went on to work on music with his friends, while Ted of course stayed with W.B., who had an alright solo career for a little while... but then of course, newcomer Wacky joined in upon becoming W.B.'s protégé - but the real magic happened when Prince M and Really came down to earth and met them. These two extraterrestrial visitors were on a mission to spread love and peace in the universe, which sparked something in Ted. He saw that everybody had their own unique qualities and saw the potential for a fun psychedelic band that could spread such values... and so... the Sunshine Lovers were born. That's right. He was the creative genius behind the band. He had a vision, and the others followed.
He is still very much affected by what happened in the past, but he tries not to let that get in the way. He tries his best to be a much better person than he was when he was alive. It's quick to notice that he is quite the gentleman. He sees potential in anyone he meets, and has an artistic eye. He has a very positive outlook on life and appreciates every little thing that makes it so great. Dying young and coming back to life kinda contributed - he was such a close-minded shut-in in the past. Generally, he is very humble and selfless, caring way more about the happiness of his loved ones than himself. He's also the most level-headed of the group, being the moral glue that resolves conflicts with his ease thanks to his very gentle and calm demeanor. Oh, but don't think he's always super serious - he can be a goof too. He likes bad dad jokes, ha. Though he can also have a dark sense of humor - not in an "I'm going to call you a slur" way, heck no - more in a "I literally died and I'm desensitized" way.
. As he died at some point in the mid 50s, he speaks in outdated slang sometimes.
. He knows Spanish as a second language (he grew up using Caló slang whenever speaking Spanish in his neighborhood + speaks with the dying New Mexico dialect).
. He still sometimes goes out and does poetry readings and one man shows.
. LOOOOVES taking long walks.
. Very skilled at painting! He's even painted posters for the band's tours... oh and he uses his skills to help his husband with his makeup sometimes, hehe.
. Used to be very camera-shy and still kinda is. He likes getting recognition for his work, but he's not about being an icon. For a while he was just sorta the guy in the back who was the man behind the magic.
. His "physics" are very similar to a skeleton you'd see in a rubberhose cartoon
. At some point during his mortality, he had a burlesque vaudeville drag act.
